CLARE-LESS on the Court
By Ryan Erwin
On January 19th, the St.Charles Chargers’ 7th grade basketball B team took on the St. Clare’s Crusaders. Our Charger’s dominated all four quarters outscoring St Clare’s by 31 points with a final score of 58-27! Conor Galanaugh took the top spot on the scoring leaderboard for St. Charles with 13 points, followed close behind by Luke Marsich with 12 points and Thomas Costanzo 11. The Chargers also had a good night from the free-throw line, hitting 7 of 12.
Our Charger family had a scare at the end of the second quarter, when with 2:16 left, Joe Sporacio lost his footing while going for a layup and fell hard to the floor hitting his head. As per CYO regulations, Joe was removed from the game for his own safety. I am happy to report that Joe is ok and will be playing in this weekend’s game. Ending on a positive note, my two favorite “CGW” (crowd goes wild) moments of the game were when Marsich hit a highlight reel buzzer- beater shot to end the second quarter and when Costanzo hit a three-pointer!
See you this weekend at the game!
