On Saturday, March 9, St. Charles third grade girls’ basketball team won the Downstate game against St. Mary-Katonah with a score of 21-13.  This win allowed them to compete in the NY State Championship on Sunday March, 10. They played @ Mt. St. Michael against St. Paul from Rockland County.  After playing their hardest, they won the States with a score of 24-12. The coach was very impressed with the playing of the girls, and was very satisfied with how the season went and ended. She explained to us that the star players of the game were:


~Addison Cunningham, who played superb defense!

~The twins, Olivia and Emma Brunno-Dunn scored a total of 13 points together!

~Lastly, the key player, Abbey Robinsky, who is the only second grader on the team played amazing,                                          scoring a total of 8 points! She truly showed a transformation from the beginning of the season while competing with older girls.


Interview with Abbey Robinsky:


Ella & Sam- “How does it feel being the only second grader on the team?”

Abbey- “I feel like im proud of myself.”  Abbey then explained that she feels important.


Ella & Sam-“ Were you nervous for state champs?”

Abbey- “ I was kind of  nervous for the championship”


Ella & Sam- “ Are you excited to get a banner in the gym?”

Abbey-  “yes”


Ella & Sam-“ What was your favorite moment during the game?”

Abbey-”My first point which was a foul shot”


Ella & Sam-“How did you feel winning the game?”

Abbey- “Really excited”


Ella & Sam- “ Did you celebrate your win?”

Abbey-  “Yes. The whole basketball team went to Lea’s”



Ella & Sam- “ How do you think you did in the game ?”

Abbey- “I think I did really good “


This team completed their perfect season, and look forward to more exciting seasons in the future .
