Once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader!  That was the legacy of Holly LaGrega, my mom. She was a cheerleader for Farrell High school and her legacy keeps moving. Now, me, Alyssa LaGrega, Debs cheerleader, for Saint Charles, will pass it on to my little sister, Alexis LaGrega, a Biddy cheerleader for Saint Charles.

The Interview

Me: “ Why did you want to be a cheerleader? “

My Mom: “ I wanted to be a cheerleader because I wanted to be involved with sports but not something that involved too much running. “

Me: “ What skills did you get as a cheerleader? “

My Mom: “ None. Skills weren’t a big part of cheerleading back then.”

Me: “ Did you cheer for basketball games? “

My Mom: “ No. I cheered for football games. “

Me: “ How many competitions did you go to? “

My Mom: “ None, competitions weren’t big either. “

Sisters

So now that we know about my mom, let’s take a look at me and my sister. I started cheerleading when I was in Kindergarden, that’s when I was on Itty Biddies. Then I went on to Biddies and now I am on Debs. I have a roundoff-back handspring and I am working to make it better.

My sister, Alexis, started on Itty Biddies like me and is now on Biddies. She is working on her cartwheel with her friends. (Personally, I think she started cheerleading because she wanted to be like me.)

Cheerleading is a great sport and I’m so glad that I’m participating. If anyone is considering doing a sport I think you should sign up for cheer. Always remember, once a Charger , always a Charger ! !
